The Bloody String necklace was made for the fifth edition of the magazine LTTR, or Lesbians To The Rescue. The Bloody String Krew and I made 1000 necklaces, one for each magazine.
Later, for the LTTR release party at Susanne Vielmetter Gallery, D’Argento performed the Spell of the Bloody String.
BUCKLE OF ISIS, aka THE BLOODY STRING is a piece of red suede cord, knotted 13 times. The number 13 stands for "Joie" and gambler’s luck. The thirteen knots are the thirteen drops of menstrual blood, which would be placed in the drink of someone you desire, in order to make them YOURS FOREVER. The hand-crafted ceramic ring, tied to the cord, is the Buckle, the “eye” of the cervix. Isis, the Egyptian goddess, separated Heaven from Earth. Her symbol is the Buckle, which is argued to represent her menstrual pad. The Buckle of Isis is thus associated with her blood.
